My name is Ms. Margaret Mackie. I received a B.S. in Art Education (K-12) from State University of New York at New Paltz in New Paltz, New York. I teach three and four year olds in the afternoon classroom at St. Mary's Creative Playschool.
I recently moved to Alaska from Fort Collins, Colorado, with my family. My husband, Adam, is also a teacher, and we live in Anchorage with our two children Noah and Hazel. Adam attended St. Mary's preschool as a child, more than 30 years ago, and Hazel has recently joined the St. Mary's family.
I've been teaching art for eight years to children ages two through 18 in New York and Colorado. I've led elementary and middle school art camps, and I've worked in a Waldorf-inspired school as a games teacher. Additionally, I've served as a youth program coordinator for three years at Colorado State University working with the children of international families. I believe in the importance of learning through play, and I offer a rich variety of story-based games in my classroom.
